According to RadarOnline.com, there is controversy surrounding Ryan Gosling’s upcoming action comedy The Fall Guy before it even opens in cinemas because of a “joke” on Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s turbulent relationship.

Even though the film doesn’t open until Friday, several fans were not thrilled with a phrase that they felt trivialized domestic violence in the preview viewing of the picture.

Critics accused ‘The Fall Guy’ of making light of domestic violence.

Emily Blunt and Ted Lasso actor Hannah Waddingham, who plays a director and movie producer, is in the controversial scene.

The actor’s trailer is utterly destroyed when the two ladies enter. “It’s like Amber and Johnny were just in here,” Waddingham laughs as the two gasp at the devastation.

Fans expressed disappointment in Waddingham for saying the line.

The comment stops there, and neither Heard nor Depp are mentioned again in the movie, but reviewers attacked the phrase for making light of such a grave issue as domestic abuse.

When they discovered the offensive joke, online people criticized the movie and showed little interest in seeing it.

Others called the line ‘unfortunate’ to hear as they vowed to not see the movie.

“Hearing about the Amber Heard joke in The Fall Guy has just completely obliterated any interest I had in seeing it, even for Gosling in another comedic role,” a user on X commented.

“Hannah’s speaking the phrase has me really disappointed. Another admirer said, “I know it’s a character, but I always held her in such high regard so this is unfortunate to hear.”

Some even suggested that viewers boycott the movie. “The Fall Guys, which starred Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, include a joke in which they ridicule the mistreatment Amber heard she endured when dating Johnny Depp. Avoid seeing this poorly received film.”

“Really?!?” echoed another. Lightening up Amber Heard’s trauma? That’s not even Hollywood-level low. Will not assist, but I hope others will,”

Heard wrote a 2019 article about domestic violence that sparked a defamation lawsuit from ex-husband Depp.

Heard and Depp divorced after only 15 months of marriage in 2015. When the Pirates of the Caribbean actor sued his ex-wife in 2019 for defamation over a piece she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018 about domestic abuse, their romance came back to light.

Heard wrote in the essay about the alleged abuse she endured from infancy into adulthood, even though she did not mention Depp by name. Heard filed a $100 million countersuit in response to Depp’s $50 million defamation lawsuit.

Fans were divided and enthralled by the spectacular televised trial that resulted from the lawsuits. Heard was subsequently deemed not to have shown sufficient evidence by the jury, and Depp was given $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.

The jury also decided that Depp had falsely accused Heard of being a character in Aquaman, and they gave the actor $2 million in compensatory damages.
